Yrittäjyystutkimuksessa biologinen perimä, yrittäjäksi syntyminen, on siirtynyt taustalle. Painopistettä on suunnattu kasvatukselliseen pohdintaan. Se on tuottanut tutkimusta pääasiassa yrittäjyyden tieteenalalla. Pääpaino on ollut toisaalta aikuisväestön, jo ammatissa toimivien tai työttömien kouluttamisessa yrittäjiksi, toisaalta yrittäjyyden kytkemisessä ammatillisen ja korkean asteen koulutukseen. Yrittäjyyden pedagogisten perusteiden pohdinta on sen sijaan vasta lähtemässä liikkeelle.
